Who We Are
A bar named for the simple act of being present.
The Beginning
The name came before the bar. "2b" — a place "to be." Not a checkpoint between somewhere else, but a destination in its own right. Co-founders Dhenzell Lao, Shaydell Lao, and Ella Lee started from a shared frustration: too many bars in the city felt transactional. They wanted to build something that felt like staying.
Shaydell, trained at Le Cordon Bleu, brought the culinary precision that shaped the small bites program. Ella Lee, with a background in Seoul's bar scene, brought a Korean-Filipino sensibility that runs through everything — from the shiso in the Strawberry cocktail to the tablea in the Barley drink. Bar Manager Nico Adolfo, formerly of The Spirits Library and Yardstick Coffee, developed a cocktail program rooted in a single guiding question.
What happens when a familiar flavor gets taken somewhere unexpected? The Apple & Parmesan Milk Punch, the Corn & Miso tequila, the Tablea & Barley cacao drink — each one begins with something you recognize, then transforms through technique, texture, or an unexpected pairing you didn't see coming.
What Drives Us
Three convictions that shape every cocktail, every table, every conversation at 2b.
We start with what you know and take it somewhere unexpected. Every cocktail on our menu begins with a flavor or memory you recognize — then transforms through an ingredient, technique, or texture you didn't anticipate. That gap between expectation and surprise is where 2b lives.
2b was designed to be a destination, not a checkpoint. Soft lighting, warm textures, and 35 closely arranged seats create a space that feels like your favorite room in your favorite friend's apartment. The bar works as hard as the cocktails to make you want to stay one more round.
From the custom illustrations that accompany each cocktail — created by @zw.creatives — to the precise sourcing of every ingredient, we believe the effort behind a drink is part of the experience. Nothing here is accidental. Everything is considered, from the garnish to the glassware.
What We Stand For
Every drink begins with something you know — a flavor from childhood, a texture you trust. Then it surprises you. That transformation is the point.
Each cocktail is developed with precision. Nothing on the menu happens by accident — ingredients are tested, combinations are deliberate, and the final drink earns its place.
We are a bar for our community, built to feel like the best room on the block. The Scout Rallos address is not incidental — it is the whole point.
Our Filipino-Korean creative roots inform everything from the tablea in our cacao cocktail to the shiso in our vodka stirrer. We cook and pour from where we come from.
The space should work as hard as the cocktails. Warm lighting, close seating, and conversations that last longer than expected — that is hospitality done right.
